You don't drive in Kastro. Once you leave your transportation outside on the road to the village, you climb the medieval stairs through the main portico and there, in front of you is your front door.
The house, like all of Kastro is a more than 500-year-old stone structure, one of the row of houses that line the narrow twisting lane, with walls a meter thick, deep vaulted doors and windows, stone floors and narrow stairways. It has the simple functionality of its original purpose, just two rooms of elegant proportion. The high ceiling of the ground floor accommodates a raised gallery and maintains cool temperatures on the hottest summer days. The top room, glowing with the Mediterranean light, opens onto a balcony affording a view of sea and island that hasn't changed for half a century. A back door from this upstairs room takes you back out to an upper street level. The house has been completed with a new kitchen and bathroom which have been sensitively incorporated into the original architecture to preserve its character and atmosphere. We have an additional blow up mattress.
Our island manager, Maria is swedish and speaks fluent greek and english.
She is available to collect you at the port on arrival for an additonal 25 euros.
